Photo Credit: Watches of KnightsbridgeEssential Winding Instructions and Guidelines: To fully wind your watch from an empty state, approximately 30 turns of the crown are needed. Most hand-wound watches require 40 or more turns, but this specific movement needs slightly less. Once fully wound, the watch has an average power reserve of around 36 hours. It's essential to exercise care during the winding process to ensure proper operation.Daily Winding:If you wind the watch daily, such as each morning, the number of turns may vary slightly from day to day without impacting the overall power reserve.25 turns are often sufficient when winding every 24 hours. This is because the watch doesn’t require a full wind after a day of use. Individual preferences may vary, and most owners will develop a personalized winding routine within the first few days of ownership.Important Considerations:Avoid overwinding: Overwinding can cause the winding mechanism to lock up or, worse, damage the mainspring.Adhering to the recommended winding instructions ensures the longevity and proper functioning of the timepiece. What is Overwinding? Overwinding occurs when a watch is wound past its stopping point, which risks damaging the winding mechanism. This issue is specific to manually wound watches. It's important to note that automatic watches cannot be overwound, as they are equipped with mechanisms to prevent this. By following these guidelines, you'll ensure the smooth and long-lasting operation of your watch.

MWC 1940s Pattern 46mm Auto Military Aviator/Pilot Watch With See Thru Caseback

SKU Code: CLIX/SS/B/ND This MWC Ltd Edition Classic aviator watch is one of MWC's classic Pilot watch models. The MWC Classic Aviator range watches are all based on military designs from the 1940s and 50s. Some of the models have a traditional second hand within a subsidiary dial above 6 o'clock as opposed to a sweep secondhand because this was a common feature in the 1940s, the other models including this one have a sweep secondhand which started to replace the subsidiary dials on many watches from around 1943 onward. These varying designs mean you have the option to choose a model that suits your personal style preferences. The extra-large case diameter of 46mm / 1.81" (excluding the crown) makes this a very imposing timepiece that has considerable presence and tends to attract a lot of favourable comments, especially from other watch enthusiasts. The large dial size together with Luminova paint makes this watch extremely easy to read day or night just as with the World War II originals. This model has a traditional automatic 24 jewel NH35A mechanical movement with a 41-hour power reserve when fully wound. The see-through exhibition caseback, gives excellent visibility of the mechanical movement.
